Book Review: Jquery Mobile by Jon Reid

I bought this book (one of the very first books to be published on the jQuery Mobile framework) in anticipation of some detailed code examples. While the JQM online documentation is extensive and regularly updated, it does assume a thorough working knowledge of core jQuery, which can prove a stumbling block for anyone interested in JQM and at the same time new to jQuery.

While the book is on the thin side (111 pages) it is generous with code examples and includes a well-narrated overview of the framework. The only word of caution I would give is in terms of versions. The book refers to the Alpha 4 release. JQM has since gone through 3 beta releases and is now on version 1.0 RC1 This does unfortunately date the book slightly in a few areas. However, that said, I would still recommend the book to anyone looking for a high level (and digestible) view of the framework or anyone getting stuck with the jQuery aspect.
